Why Chrome OS should come with LAMP Server.
"The Cloud? That means I have to be connected to the Internet in order to use my 'dumb terminal.'" Sad, but true. You must have a connection in order to use the machine at all. However...
If you incorporate LAMP Server (or similar) you get an awesome local server that can run applications as well. Granted, it wouldn't run all those cool social sites and your Google Docs, but it could! Say for instance if Google decided to make a LOCAL version of Google Docs. Or if other developers wanted to develop applications, they wouldn't have to learn so much for a new framework. It's PHP! It's MySQL! Apple eat your 1,000,000 "apps for that" heart out! We got 1,000,000,000 "apps for that and their baby mama!"
Heck, we could have people connecting one Chrome OS to another and trading data. I got my 250GB SimpleTech waiting right here.
Oh. But... Security. Well, is it that bad for the web servers that have PHP/MySQL on them that they have to discontinue using these services? And Google OS updates automatically, right? BAM! Security patch! POW! Ready to roll! Apple? Where'd you go?
Instead of another Software Development Kit give us a Software Detachment Kit. Yeah!
Alcides.
I'll probably get one either way. :) Still not affiliated with Google other than I use a few of their services (like Gmail and this Blog! :))
