Bring plastic bags back to SF now!

Yeah, yeah. Plastic, the ocean, debris on the street. I know. I know. However, do you know that the stores required to use paper bags instead of plastic do not use 100% recycled paper? It's 30% if we're LUCKY! With that, SF and all those other cities have created a larger demand for paper. Trees, pollution, etc.

Now, I see it every day!...

"Can you double bag my bread? I'm walking."
"Can you double bag my potato chips? I walking up the stairs."
"Can you double bag my gallon of water that already has a HANDLE? I'm crossing the River Jordan."

First, the paper bags are strong. However, people abuse what they have and wave their bags around like they're made of cloth and are surprised when they break. And of course, some workers just don't know how to bag ANY type of bag correctly. Still. Bring your own damn bag!

Plastic! Bring it back. Charge 50 cents a pop! Taxed. The city, not the store, should charge 50 cents a bag. Just like they charge 5 cents CRV for the state on cans and bottles. SF looking for revenue? THERE YOU GO!

Stores can no longer just say, "Okay the customer is always right. Give them whatever they want." Now, they HAVE to charge for the bag.

Shopping? Bring your own bag. Or pay 50 cents a bag. Paper or plastic? How many bags would you like? Pay money! Forgot your bag at home? Pay now. Remember next time.

Seriously. Is it that ridiculous?

Alcides.
